In 1989, there was a huge DISASTER in the Rimouski area. Daniel Jalbert, Chuck Tremblay and Jeff Olivier were among the first ones affected by an unknown musical virus. Early symptoms were unnoticeable but not long after, they can not simply be ignored. Dry mouth, short-term memory loss and accelerated hair growth were the most noticeable. More so, the infected seemed to require loud distortion and intense bouts of "Mosh-pit" activity in order to survive. The three individuals decided to further explore and research the symptoms they were suffering.

At the beginning of 1991, an undisclosed individual was hired by the team to collect residual sonic activity samples from other victims in the infected zone.

He became quickly infected and had to be evacuated out of the area. Simon Roy was doing promising work in experimental sound virology. He was the only one using low frequencies as a mean to modify the way a virus can replicate. This unique expertise made him the most suitable candidate to replace the infected team member.

After a year of experimental research, the team decided to record their findings. Despite their efforts, the virus was spreading fast in the region. In fact, most teens had also been infected and an increasing number of young adults were showing symptoms of the virus as circle mosh-pits began to increase in numbers and intensity during gatherings.

In February of 1991, they recorded their introductory research. Many bought the audiocassette with the hopes of treating or better understand the virus. What they did not realize was that the more they listened to the tape, the more the infection spread. Their taste for blast-beat drums, distorted guitars and growling voices became almost insatiable. The virus and the hosts were now bound at a micro-cellular level.

In May of 1991, it was Jeff Olivier's turn to be the next member of the group to be evacuated from the zone. He was later diagnosed with an extreme GORELUST mutagene. Soon after, in June of 1991, Daniel, Chuck and Simon decided to give a name to the virus, they called it: Necrotic Mutation.
